I rented a car last month. When I returned it there was no damage. The car was not inspected immediately upon my return, but rather left in an non-monitored car park. At some later time, the damage was observed by the car wash team. The rentalcomapny is saying I damaged the car while it was in my possession, but has no way of proving it didn't happen after I dropped it off. I did not damage the car and it was not damaged when I returned it. The damage is to the rear of the car, which would have been exposed to other vehicles in the parking lot, as I parked it nose first into the space.
Hi ****,
To clarify your situation better, did you take any photos or videos of the car upon returning it, or did you complete a return inspection form with the rental company?
Here are some general steps you might consider:
- Review the rental agreement for damage policies.
- Gather any evidence (photos, videos, witnesses).
- Contact the rental company to dispute the claim.
Please let me know if you need more specific information.

No. There is no attendant at this drop off lot, so there was no one to inspect the car. I did not take pictures.
