My daughter is a varsity cheerleader at Monroe Academy, an AISA private school. The school has a board-adopted cheer handbook with structured tryout scoring process and states that parents may not coach a squad without board approval. After the team was announced, additional students who did not meet required tryout scores were later added to the squad. Additionally, two parents of athletes on the team were placed in coaching roles even though the handbook states that a parent cannot coach without board approval, and to my knowledge no board vote occurred.
