Hello, I am writing on behalf of my elderly aunt and uncle, who were recently approved for a section * apartment. They currently live in Reno, but the apartment was in Newport Beach, California. They told them they were approved for an apartment and they spent the money to go down there to look at the apartment, and do all the paperwork, etc. went back home rented trucks hired moving people and when they were leaving to move to their new home the place called them and said they didn’t qualify. Turns out that the girl never turned their paperwork into section *. We need some direction on how to proceed. They are both devastated. Thank you
I'm sorry to hear about your aunt and uncle's situation. Here's what they can do:
- File a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
- Contact the Legal Aid Society of Orange County for further assistance.
- Consider speaking with a lawyer to discuss potential legal remedies available.
These steps are based on California law and may vary depending on specific facts.
Will this be good for them if they live in Reno Nevada but we’re moving to Newport Beach California
Yes, since the Section * apartment is in California, California law applies. They can proceed with the mentioned steps even if they currently live in Nevada.
Thank you very much!
