My adult daughter is on my checking account and has access as a joint owner of the account to all the funds. We are currently estranged. She will not take any calls from me, I don’t know where she’s living, and I have only her email address for contact. She is spending too much money, but I do not want to cut her off completely because she is vulnerable and has mental health issues. I don’t know what to do.
Have you considered setting up a separate account for her with a limited amount of funds?
In Pennsylvania, joint account holders have equal access to funds. You can't limit her access without her consent.
Our bank account is with the Bank of Oklahoma, but I imagine their rules are the same or similar. If I set up a separate account for her, will the bank notify her through her email address? I don’t have any way of contacting her about any of this.
What is your daughter's age? Banks usually have different rules for minors and adults. In general, banks do not notify other parties when an account is opened unless explicitly instructed to do so.

What is your daughter's full name?
Why do I have to provide that?
Knowing your daughter's full name can help us provide more accurate information. However, if you're uncomfortable, it's not necessary. Let's proceed without it.
Thank you.
