I need to know if I wrote up a contract with a home owner saying I'll put up his building for x amount and I told him I don't do foundation work and we put a date the building would be done but I can't get it done do to the foundation not being done would I get in trouble for breach of contract
Hello ****, it depends on the terms of your contract. If the contract clearly states that you don't handle foundation work and the delay is solely due to that, you may not be in breach. However, laws can vary. May I know your location to provide more specific information?
The contract don't say that I don't do foundation I told the homeowner that I don't do it I told him the price I gave him was just for the building to go up so would I be in breach of contract
Hello ****, it seems there's a bit of verbal agreement that's not included in the written contract. This can complicate things. Can you please tell me where you are located so I can provide more accurate information?

In Michigan, verbal agreements can be legally binding but proving them can be challenging. If a significant aspect of your agreement (no foundation work) wasn't in the contract, you may be held liable for breach. Consult a local attorney for advice.
Can I just return the remainder of the material money he gave me and walk away
Hello ****, returning the remainder of the material money may not absolve you from potential breach of contract claims. You should consult a local attorney to discuss the matter before taking any action.
