Filing Housing Complaints Guide
Summary
In California, tenants can file complaints with local housing authorities for issues like construction disturbances without notice. Fair compensation for such disturbances may include a rent reduction of 10-30%, depending on severity. Document disturbances with photos and logs, and write a formal complaint to your landlord. If unresolved, contact the Redondo Beach Housing Division. For parking issues, request fair allocation. Consider legal advice for personalized guidance.Full Conversation

sure. there is also a parking complaint. there is now only one * car garage and several white rectangular outlines on the driveway for parking spots. Landlord/propeerty manager allocated all the spots to the tenants who came after us making use of our garage near imposssible

Regarding the parking complaint, here are some points you could add to your letter:
- Parking Allocation: Describe how the parking spots were allocated and the inconvenience caused.
- Impact on Garage Access: Explain how the current allocation makes it difficult to use your garage.
- Request for Fair Allocation: Ask for a reallocation that considers your needs as well.

jackhammering started unexpectedly on */*. A conversation with owner let me know it would continue on */* and */*. Late afternoon on */*, I was told it would continue another day on */*. During this time lots of dust from concrete work is in the air, covering the cars and our outdoor furniture. we are forced to keep all doors and windows closed. Given the ongoing disturbance and health impacts caused by the construction, you might reasonably request a rent reduction of approximately *%-*% of your monthly rent.

There's more: It was VERY loud and before *:30AM. We had no notification and there was a distinct smell of metal in the air. I had to close my windows again due to air difficult to breath. I also work from home Monday Wednesday and Fridays and they owner and property manager knew this. I told them BOTH during my complaint on Friday. You would think landlord would have been sensitive and learned his lesson and would have AT LEAST given us *-hour notice that construction (jackhammering) would resume again today, but no. There was jackhammering before *:30am again today!! We have no idea how long this construction will last as no one has shared anything with us.
